California Kingsnakes are smooth, shiny snakes with bands of black or brown alternating with white or light yellow. They are active during daylight in cooler weather and at night, dawn, and dusk during hotter weather. They eat a wide variety of prey, including rattlesnakes. California Kingsnakes are immune to rattlesnake venom.
